Bio/Description
Alan Elbaum has been working for the Princeton Geniza Project as research assistant since 2019 and senior research assistant since 2020. He is a medical student in the UC Berkeley-UC San Francisco Joint Medical Program. He will pursue a career in psychiatry after his graduation in 2022. His specialty within the Cairo Geniza is the history of medicine and the history of illness. But he is interested in the entirety of the Geniza: 11th-century Judaeo-Persian letters to 19th-century Judaeo-Spanish recipe books, and documents of every time period and language in between.
