I am a PhD candidate at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy. My dissertation is focused on Christian Arabic astrological literature between the 18th and the 19th century. With the Geniza Lab, I am cataloguing the scientific, astrological and magical texts written in Judeo-Arabic. The Genizah fragments are a most valuable source for history of astrology, science and the so-called occult sciences. These forms of knowledge were frequently exchanged among different religious communities in the Arab world. The Genizah fragments can, in this sense, be a unique access to the history of these disciplines and their transmission in premodern times.
