The team at the Princeton Geniza Lab conducts research on digital images of geniza fragments in three ways:

1. as virtual surrogates for physical manuscripts;
2. as components of database design — as of 2020, in an effort to align images with transcribed texts; and
3. as candidates for computational decipherment using handwritten text recognition.
